Practical Questions

I rent my apartment / move often. Is art practical for me?

More practical than a sofa, actually.

Prints are lightweight and ship in a tube. They travel with you. Editions on canvas are easy to hang and rehang. A single nail, a hook, done.

Many of my collectors rent. Art isn't tied to a mortgage. It's the one thing in your space that's entirely yours regardless of whose walls they technically are.

Can I use your work on social media or share it online?

Feel free to share my work on social media with credit (@petergil.studio or a link to petergil.com) for any non-commercial purpose. You're helping me reach new people, and I appreciate it.

What you can't do: use the images commercially, ie. in advertising, on products, in publications, without a separate licensing agreement. The copyright remains with me.

If you're interested in licensing a motif or image for commercial use, let's talk.
I do licensing deals and I'm open to creative collaborations.

Can I see the work in person before buying?

If you can visit: Studio visits are available by appointment in northern Poland (Kociewie region, near Gdańsk). Email me, or let’s set up a quick meet to arrange a time.

If you can't visit: I offer private digital presentations via Zoom or FaceTime for originals and high-value editions. I'll walk you through the work — every texture, every brushstroke, in real light, in real time.

I'd rather you see the work properly than buy blind and wonder. Let's set up a call.

Do you sell NFTs?

Not at all. My focus is on physical works like oil on linen, giclée on canvas and paper, as well as hand-embellished editions. Things you can actually hang on a wall and live with.

If digital formats become relevant to the practice, I'll announce it through my mailing list first.

How do I care for the work?

General rules for all works:

  • Hang away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and high-humidity areas

  • Temperature: 18–24°C, stable (no radiators, fireplaces, or drafty corridors)

  • Humidity: 40–60%

  • Use soft LED lighting — avoid strong halogen or direct sunlight

  • Don't touch the painted surface directly

  • Lift framed works from the sides, never from the top or the canvas

For originals and editions on canvas:

  • Dust gently with a soft, dry brush if needed

  • Never use chemical cleaners or water on the surface

  • If the work needs restoration, contact me — I'll advise on a professional conservator

Detailed care instructions are included with every edition and original.
